Summary

They show pictures of various vehicles and ask Kevin to decide if it is a forklift or a van. They also discuss push up form and joke around throughout the episode. Oh, right. So, Jordan, you mentioned something in the beginning, and I know Kevin's experiencing this too. So you got you've got the big snow. I know you had the big snowstorm, Jordan. So how did that, uh, how did that go over for you in ops? I mean, were you enjoying that? Was it was it nice and stress free, the snow for your ops that you're running?

I wish that I could say that the snow is stress free, but unfortunately, it is probably the most stressful. Uh, because while everybody gets to have a snow day, you do not get to have a snow day. You get to sit behind your computer and try to figure out what to do for the next week or two to save your operation.

You guys are up in the northeast, but in the southeast where I am. Where other parts of the country. Every time it is about to snow or snows. You know what happens if you're a middle manager? If you're a warehouse manager, you get you get the you get the executives from the one side that's just trying to squeeze every last ounce of productivity out of the building, like, well, yeah. Hey, sir, I think we should close. But you know what? I'll just see if we can get the people who at least live within walking distance of the facility to come in. They can work for about 45 minutes. Right. And then on the other side, you get the employees that if and there is even a hint of snow, they're calling you up with every sob story. Like, you know, I live on, I live kind of back in the woods, and I have this tree branch that hangs over the top of my driveway, and it's got some snow and ice on it. And I know as soon as I drive under it, it's going to fall and kill me, so I probably should. I probably shouldn't come into work. And you're like, okay, well, since you said kill me, uh, on on the on the phone there with your call even even though I'm looking out. Everything was fine. I will I will give you I will give you the I will give you the permission to stay home today. So yeah, the snow is just just always terrible. Always wrecks up every operation. So. So what I thought I thought we'd do to kick off the show. Kevin. So we we we both follow you on LinkedIn. I follow you on LinkedIn. I follow the new warehouse. And one of the one of the posts that you did in the past, Jordan and I were talking about it, and we're like, that's funny, right? Like, it had funny art and everything. I hear this. So what was the what was the thought process behind where's my tape comes? I think we know where you're going on that. But what was your intent? Yeah, I mean, I think, you know, warehouse workers, they tend to get, uh, possessive right over certain items that I think they even though all the take guns are the same. And I know in some of the operations I worked with, they're all like the free tape guns that you get from you line. Right? Everybody's got the same one. But for some reason, like this one's mine, right? And somebody took it and I know it's mine because I have a little sticker on it that indicates that it's mine. Right. Or I've put like my initials on the very bottom of it. And I think it's not just tape guns. I mean, it's it's kind of like all that kind of equipment, box cutters, gloves, you know, the Arnold scanners, all that stuff. I think people, um, they tend to favor them for, for whatever reason. And they want to make sure that, like, they have theirs, right? And. Oh, somebody touched my stuff. Like, this is not good. I'm gonna cause a big, big uproar. And I'm gonna make a scene because somebody, uh, somebody took my tape. Gun. Why did they do that?

Jordan, you got. I know you worked, uh, both in the FCS and in transportation. Have you seen that? I mean, have you seen employees that refuse to leave a certain pack station because it's it's theirs. They like it set up? Or have your folks been pretty, pretty happy to just use whatever they've got?

Oh, definitely not happy to use whatever they have got. Uh, I've experienced both, but I, I don't know if either of you have had the pleasure of working with any bike locks. Uh, but I have seen multiple bike locks around equipment in my day, so we had a wow bender returns team. Uh, back at my first warehouse, where, for some reason, those computer carts were the best computer carts in the warehouse, and nobody else could use them, even though they did not work at the same time as the night shift. Because I was on nights during that time. So they would lock all their computer carts up using a bike lock so that nobody else could use them. And let's just say I have helped cut a few bike locks in my day.

Oh, yes. Yeah. I, I've definitely experienced some, um, creative hiding, uh, of certain equipment. Right. Like, we had this operation I worked in. There was a big sense of, like, this RF gun is better than this one. Right. And we had people that would like. They would hide them in certain locations, in the racking in the boxes, and then, like, when they would come in for their shift, they would know exactly where it was and they would go and go and get it, or they would, uh, you know, go into the lock story there, Jordan. Like, I mean, we had people lock them in their, their lockers all the time. Right. And then they, you know, they talk about snowstorms, right? They they call out or they get sick or something happens and they're not in for a couple of days, and all of a sudden we're like, how are we missing like three RF guns? Where are they? Right. And we're just bolt cutters from the, uh, from the the loading dock, wherever they're at the lockers. Just like cutting them open and trying to find where they're at. Right. And it's like, uh, it's crazy. The, like, possession of just like, oh, this one is mine. And we're like, no, it's not yours. And they're like, oh, yeah. But this is the one I use every day. Yeah. Well,

Well, one day, one day he he was out of work. He was out that day and I happened to be working in path. Like I went to help somebody do some pack out. So I grabbed his scanner. I used his scanner because he's not there. So I got it from his thing. So I'm over there work and

Now, I didn't mean I wasn't going to leave it there, I just put it. But then I got distracted. Somebody distracted me. I came back, taped the box up, ships it all the way

And I thought he would be like, ah, it's no big deal. You know? Whatever. No. He goes. He looks at me and he goes. I tell him the whole the whole thing, and he goes, I'm hurt. Oh. You hurt him. Wow.

The customer's contacted, they shipped it back. I think we sent them a gift card or something like that. And and Tony got a scanner back for it. But for a time there he was. Uh, he was absolutely heard about it. So there was, I would say

I mean, I cringe just because this whole little setup is kind of concerning. So I might not even want to step foot in that warehouse to begin with.
